The Role:

Spire Global are currently seeking a highly skilled logistics manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a highly trained supply-chain expert. We’re looking for someone who's an outstanding communicator, exceptional leader, and even better strategist. You will play a vital role in the supply chain team, taking responsibility and developing logistics function for the import & export of the materials, products and tools necessary to build and ship our satellites and services to support our global ground station network and the wider business in general.

Responsibilities of your role:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic logistics plans to support the company's global operations and business objectives in the satellite industry.
  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective logistics solutions.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Stay informed about international trade regulations, customs requirements, and import/export restrictions to ensure compliance and minimize risks in global logistics operations.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness of logistics operations. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize logistics processes and reduce operational costs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including procurement, operations, sales, Compliance, Mission control teams as well as the wider business, to align logistics activities with overall business goals and customer requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in logistics operations, such as supply chain disruptions, transportation delays, and inventory shortages. Develop contingency plans and mitigation strategies to minimize the impact on operations.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the logistics budget, including forecasting, cost analysis, and budget allocation for transportation, warehousing, and other logistics expenses.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and integrity of satellite equipment and components throughout the logistics process, from procurement to delivery, by implementing quality control measures and inspection procedures.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the logistics team, including training, coaching, and performance management, to ensure high performance and professional development.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience in logistics, trade compliance and freight sectors
  • Strong systems skills, including proficiency with integrated software applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of Global Import / Export – HRMC & Global Custom regulations
  • Effective Time Management and organisational skills

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Knowledge of end-to-end logistics operations (including maritime, air, over-the-road, rail, customs, and warehousing)
  • Dangerous goods certificate (Class 9)
  • Known consignor training

Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in office.
