SUMMARY

Our team is looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer who will design, configure, and maintain our large assembly models of Axiom station as well as ensure assembly design best practices are followed to improve model performance and extracted metrics quality. This role is onsite and will be based at our ASTC facility.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining and optimizing performance of large assembly models to ensure the quality of engineering data metrics and usability of models for analysis and reviews.
  • Conduct model integration design reviews of top-level assemblies with subsystem and functional stakeholders to progress designs through the lifecycle development process.
  • Generate assembly drawing trees and maintain CAD assembly breakdown and organization of mid and top-level integrated models.
  • Assisting with integrating multi-disciplinary designs.
  • Ensure CAD best practices are followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

 

  • Technical Certificate or Associates Degree in Computer-aided Design or related field.
  • 5+ years of design for manufacturing and large assembly configuration experience using SOLIDWORKS, or 3D CAD equivalent.
  • Experience creating assembly technical drawings and instructions per ASME Y-14 preferred.
  • Experience with PDM software such as SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM) or similar.
  • Certification in SOLIDWORKS (CSWA, CSWP, CSWE) preferred.
  • Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) preferred.
  • Spaceflight hardware design background preferred.
  • Experience with SOLIDWORKS Composer a plus.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent a plus.

 

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

 

Requirements 

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

 

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
