Job Title: Head of 3D Product Family at Maxar

Maxar is building the Globe in 3D - we are a satellite earth observation company specializing in remote sensing, geospatial analytics, mapping & location products, and global monitoring. We are building the most accurate representation of the Earth for various industries, including defense & intelligence, climate & environment, industrial monitoring, supply chain analysis, and financial markets.


Maxar is actively seeking an exceptional and visionary Head of 3D Product Family, focusing on the 3D product portfolio including Maxar’s Precision3D Data suite (this is a Director or Senior Director role). The ideal candidate will be passionate about driving product strategy, managing the product lifecycle, and ensuring the successful delivery of cutting-edge 3D products that meet the needs of our diverse customer base. As a critical member of our product leadership team, reporting to the Chief Product Officer (CPO), the Head of the 3D Product Family will drive all aspects of Product Management activities for their Product Family.


Responsibilities under your team’s direction will span key functions of Product Management, including:


Product Strategy:
• Develop and execute comprehensive product strategies aligned with the company's vision, goals, and technical capabilities.
• Define tactical and strategic roadmaps for the 3D product portfolio, considering market trends, customer needs, and competitive analysis.
• Lead the product specification process, ensuring clear and detailed requirements for successful product development.
• Support development of pricing strategies based on market analysis, cost considerations, and value proposition.
• Conduct customer segmentation to identify target markets and tailor product offerings accordingly.
• Collaborate with Sales & Business Development to establish and nurture customer and partner channels to enhance product reach and create strategic alliances.


Product Ownership:
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to translate product vision and requirements into actionable plans.
• Participate in the Agile Development process, including backlog grooming, release planning, and sprint reviews.
• Create and maintain epics and user stories to effectively communicate product features, enhancements, and user needs.
"Go To Market" Activities:
• Collaborate closely with sales and business development teams to align product strategies with revenue objectives.
• Develop compelling product messaging and positioning that resonates with target customers.
• Create sales toolkits, including product presentations, case studies, demos/vignettes, and competitive analysis, to support sales teams.
• Support Opportunity development and capture pursuits.
• Collaborate with marketing teams to develop effective product marketing collateral, including brochures, whitepapers, and website content.
• Conduct briefings and product demonstrations to showcase the value and capabilities of our products.


Product Management Methodology:
• Develop and implement product management methodologies, processes, and best practices that scale with Maxar’s growth
• Drive the adoption of agile practices, such as iterative development, user feedback loops, and data-driven decision-making.
• Embrace Lean Startup principles, including the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) concept, customer intimacy, validated learning, innovation accounting, and the build-measure-learn approach.
• Demonstrate understanding of key concepts from the Pragmatic Framework, such as market research, product planning, product specification, pricing & packaging, launch & marketing, sales enablement, and market feedback and iteration.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of products, regularly analyse product performance, and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.
• Lead a high-performing product team, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to foster professional growth and drive excellence in product management practices
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and customer-centricity within the product management team.
Domain Expertise:
• Understanding of 3D geospatial concepts and their applicability to use cases like precision mapping, 3D visualization, modelling & simulation, mission preparation & rehearsal, and targeting.
• Develop the Product team’s knowledge and expertise in satellite remote sensing, earth observation, geospatial analytics, and related fields.
• Understanding and leveraging various imagery-derived products for different 3D use cases and be familiar with the standards and data formats for 3D data exploitation.
• Knowledge of emerging trends and advancements in 3D geospatial technology and a proactive approach to integrating these trends into product strategy
• Familiarity with Maxar’s Precision3D suite, other 3D geospatial frameworks & products, GIS (Geographic Information System), imagery exploitation, and geospatial analytics applications to extract valuable insights from geospatial data.


Industry Experience:
• Develop the Product team’s industry understanding in the following sectors: defense & intelligence, climate & environment, industrial monitoring, and supply chain.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, best practices, and emerging technologies related to our target industries.
• Actively participate in industry conferences, events, and forums.
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Software Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geospatial Engineering).
• Proven experience in product management leadership, preferably in the satellite earth observation and/or geospatial analytics industry or related domains.
• Demonstrated success in driving product strategy, roadmap development, and go-to-market activities.
• Demonstrated success in developing and launching innovative, customer-centric products in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a record of accomplishment of building and leading high-performing product teams. Experience with scaling a team in rapid growth.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities, coupled with a strong business acumen.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a passion for driving product excellence, customer satisfaction, and business growth.
• Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic growth culture and a rapidly evolving industry landscape

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$173,000.00 - $287,000.00 annually.


 

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
