DETAILS:
We’re on the hunt for a motivated and talented Finance Co-Op Student to join our small, dynamic and fun Corporate Finance team at our Brampton ON office. This is a 4 month term starting in May 2024.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will depend on priorities but may include:
- Financial modelling forecasting and analysis.
- Participating in research, analyses and accounting assessments.
- Developing and running financial models.
- Identifying opportunities to improve and streamline current processes.
- Providing strong financial governance, including assisting with monthly reporting cycle and related account reconciliations and standards of documentation.
- Performing ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic business decisions.
- Preparing tax provision working papers and other tax accounting matters as required.
- Preparing Canadian corporate tax returns.
- Assisting with the analysis and compilation of eligible Scientific Research and Experimental Development expenditures and estimates of investment tax credits.
- Supporting of day-to-day tax functions (e.g. reviewing assessment notices, monitoring tax instalments, following up with tax authorities, etc.).
- Developing and maintaining a weekly Treasury Dashboard.
- Assisting in internal audit projects.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus in finance, accounting, business, commerce, mathematics, statistics, actuarial sciences or a related discipline.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Strong analytic and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- A self-starter with the ability to perform in a dynamic working environment.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Team-friendly attitude and willingness to learn.
- Experience or understanding of financial analysis and financial reporting is a plus.
- Experience with accounting systems is a plus.
