Power Electronics Engineer

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Design, develop, and test power electronics for the Axiom Space Station
• Work with cross-functional teams and lead the development of software requirements for power system features, diagnostics, algorithms, etc
• Printed circuit board design and system level power module design
• Support design reviews of power system as well as other spacecraft systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience  

 

• Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or related field
• 10+ years’ experience power system electronics design
• Success designing, developing, testing, and verifying human spaceflight electrical power systems
• Experience designing DC / DC converters for hundreds of volts and high tens to hundreds of amps
• Experience with high-voltage and high-current switches: thyristors, MOSFETs , IGBTs
• Experience with solar arrays including design of maximum power point tracking
• Understanding of PCB layout, manufacturing, EEE parts selection and environmental qualifications

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

 

Requirements 

• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
• Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

 

Physical Requirements

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
