Job Overview & Responsibilities

  • Job responsibilities include performing strength, fatigue and fracture analysis for structural components.
  • Candidate will be required to create analysis models, perform hand calculations and have an understanding of analysis best practices to provide strength inputs and recommendations for new designs, installations, ground, and handling equipment.
  • Candidate will be required to review and approve 3-D engineering layouts, 3-D models, designs / drawings and 2-D drawing changes for a variety of mechanical system components.
  • Candidate will make engineering design recommendations with consideration of thermal, mechanical and pressure loading using appropriate material properties, configurations, safety factors, etc.
  • Analysis results will be documented in strength reports. Additionally, the candidate will support internal peer reviews, tabletop reviews and formal design reviews as needed. Will also need to support fast paced design/analysis cycles and be able to evaluate hardware non-conformances to support production activities.
  • Candidate will participate in internal/external design reviews, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and may be expected to present analysis products at preliminary/critical design reviews (PDR/CDR).

Minimum of 4 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Understanding of analysis tools and methodology such as:
    • NASTRAN (Static, Modal, Dynamic and Non-Linear Analysis Solutions)
    • FEMAP pre/post processor
  • Ability to make design recommendations based on analysis results/experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of statics and mechanics of materials.
  • Experience analyzing structural components (machine primary/secondary structure).
  • Understanding of bolted joint modeling and analysis, GD&T standards and principles, analysis best practices and underlying assumptions, and basic hand calculations.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are essential.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
