Job description
We are looking for an EMC Engineer with a strong experience on EMC Verification / Control & Design in the Space sector.
The candidate should be able to perform, in full autonomy, all activities associated to assure EMC at system, sub-system and unit level: design, analysis and simulation of the Electrical effects of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).This include Lighting and ESD (electrostatic discharge) issues and methodologies to mitigate their associated effects. A basilar knowledge of charging effects induced by space environment is also desirable. The candidate should have ability on effectively assemble, cooperate and lead a team of EMC personnel to run the EMC program on projects demanding high levels of Magnetic and Electric field cleanliness (at extremely low frequency also). Fully experienced in writing System, Sub-System & Equipment EMC/ESD documentation (Specifications, Control Plans, Test Reporting and Analyses).
Direct laboratory experience in EMC Trouble-shooting, both for pre-compliance and compliance testing according to both ECSS-E-ST-20-07C and MIL-STD-461G are mandatory requirements. The laboratory experience is also requested to support EMC testing activities at subcontractor premises, with the capability of assessing adequacy of the implemented test set-up.
Knowledge of EMC issues associated to manned mission (due to the implication of safety induced requirement) is considered an essential skill.
Skills , experience and qualifications required
- At least 5 years of experience on the requested discipline
- Knowledge of Electric and Magnetic field Theory, including extremely low frequency
- Knowledge RF signal propagation theory
- Lighting effects, analysis and modelling
- Full autonomy in using 3D Full Wave electromagnetic simulation (CST®, FEKO etc.) including coupling, crosstalk and RFC (radio frequency compatibility)
- 1D and 2D simulation (inc. DC and AC magnetic budget) with proper tools (i.e. MATLAB; PSpice etc.)
- Full autonomy in performing EMC Testing, accordingly to most common Space Standards (i.e.ECSS-E-ST-20-07C and MIL-STD-461G)
- Full autonomy in using Instrumentation for Electrical and EMC testing (frequency and time domain, emission and susceptibility)
- System level analysis focused on system level requirements and specification
- Preparation, performance, analysis, evaluation and documentation ofEMC verification tests
- Good knowledge of composite materials
- Good knowledge of nanomaterials (e.g. carbon nanotubes CNTs)
- Full comprehensive capability of Windows Office package;
- Good attitude towards analysis, synthesis and problem solving
- Excellent knowledge of English language (spoken and written)
- Italian language knowledge will be considered additional asset.
- Available to work in shifts if requested by the program
- Good attitude towards teaming and multi-disciplinary approaches.
- Good attitude towards negotiations with Space Agencies and Subcontractors
