Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Operations Specialist for Spectrolab, Inc. in Sylmar, CA.

Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, is the world's leading merchant supplier of the Highest-Efficiency Multifunction Solar Cells for Spacecraft Power Systems, with proven reliability drawn from 65 years of space heritage. Spectrolab is also the leading supplier for aircraft illumination systems.

Spectrolab's state-of-the-art space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth's orbit, as well as the International Space Station. Since its founding in 1956, Spectrolab has led the way in the development of high-efficiency solar cells for space missions. Spectrolab has demonstrated its enduring technological leadership by being the first company to place cells on the moon (Apollo 1969), on the surface of Mars (Rover 2004), and orbit Jupiter (Juno 2016).

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including, Associate and Experienced roles.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Tracks and reports of Bid and Proposal funds
  • Works with Business Development Leads to build and maintain order forecast, including reporting forecasts to other organizations
  • Prepares Business Development reports for review by Spectrolab Senior Leadership.  Supports on and off-site meeting logistics, including customer credentials, export, and security compliance.
  • Monitors existing practices and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement. 
  • Maintains Business & Process Development Roadmap
  • Helps maintain communication with key customers with guidance from Business Development leads
  • Supports Market Research activities
  • Other responsibilities as required

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or higher
  • Proficiency and experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience collecting data from multiple sources to create presentations
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and data Manipulation
  • Experience demonstrating creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, business or technical field
  • Experience in strategy, business planning, or market analysis
  • Experience producing and presenting presentations at the Executive level
  • Level 2: 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 3: 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 2:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+1 years' related work experience, 7 years' related work experience, etc.).

Level 3:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Summary pay range for level 2: $69,700 – $94,300

Summary pay range for level 3: $90,950 - $123,050
