Job description

Impulse is seeking an experienced Controller to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will have experience as a senior accountant in our industry. As a strong communicator and skilled financial accountant, this person will streamline our accounting processes. The controller will also produce thorough financial-status reports for senior leadership to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth. In this role, you will report directly to our Chief Financial Officer and oversee the accounting team.

Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of GAAP accounting, including the general ledger, revenue recognition, inventory costing, fixed asset tracking, month-end close, GAAP reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of finical statements and reports.
Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards.
Implement and maintain robust internal controls to ensure integrity of financial information.
Manage the Accounts Payable function.
Oversee the Accounts receivable process.
Manage all aspects of tax compliance including sales, income, property, and R&D tax credit.
Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team.

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of professional accounting experience.
Proven experience as a Controller or similar role, with a focus on GAAP accounting, A/P, A/R, and taxes.
Professional certification as CPA
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
Strong understanding of tax laws and compliance.
Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
Experience managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes.
Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) accounting standards.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field
5+ years’ experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
Accounting experience at a manufacturing company
Experience working in a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
