DETAILS:

We’re on the hunt for a motivated and talented Engineering Student in our Opto-Mechanical Engineering department at our Kanata office. This is a 12-16 month term starting in May 2024.

Overall, the successful candidate would be treated similar to a new graduate joining our company, where tasks will be assigned relative to the level of schooling and experience achieved to date.

As part of the Opto-Mechanical Team, the successful candidate will design and test opto-mechanical components and assemblies to ensure that final products are reliable, cost-effective and meet all requirements. To do this the successful candidate will use a series of advanced software tools for 3D design and simulation to predict product behavior in space.

As our Engineering Student, you will:

Responsibilities:

  • Design opto-mechanical components and systems using CAD
  • Perform mechanical analyses (structural, thermal, etc.)
  • Generate/update piece part and assembly drawings for manufacturing
  • Provide support in other on-going engineering activities as required.

 

Experience and skills required:

Interested candidates should be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with three (3) years completed.

  • Good understanding of concepts in structural mechanics
  • Good understanding of heat transfer concepts
  • Experience with CAD tools

Desirable Skills:
  • Rudimentary knowledge of mechanical drawings for manufacturing
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing tolerances
  • Some exposure to structural/thermal analysis tools

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
