Your mission
As Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineer within Thales Alenia Space, you will:
Manage conceptual mechanical design including trade-offs and variants exploration
Create 3D CAD models; establish and maintain technical documentation like detailed part and assembly drawings, parts lists, interface drawings and mass budgets;
Establish and maintain product design configuration (e.g. BOM) in SAP
Liaise with assembly and testing team and provide detailed work instructions and inputs to manufacturing and assembly procedures;
Build Finite Element Models and perform static, thermo-elastic and structural dynamics analyses to validate designs through FEA
Prepare detailed technical reports/presentations and take active part in internal and external design discussions and reviews
Strive to improve the collaboration within a multidisciplinary team and reinforce inter- and intra-team relationships considering all aspects of the product design and production lifecycle
We look forward to that
Proven experience with mechanical design, from concept design to production phase for mechanical, opto-mechanical and electro-optical assemblies (mechanisms design experience is a plus)
At least 5 years of professional experience as a design and analysis engineer for space (or aerospace) projects, including application of ESA-ECSS standards
A degree (FH/Univ.) in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, or similar qualification
Proven experience with mechanical CAD design tools (preferably NX / Simcenter CAD environment)
Knowledge of metals, composites and optical glasses manufacturing technologies, mechanical tolerance analyses for high-precision devices with specific attention for design to cost and design for manufacturing principles
Ability to communicate fluently in both spoken and written English (German is of advantage)
Technical background in mechanical engineering and experience in structural analysis domain
Knowledge of Finite Element Modelling and Analysis methodologies and simulation tools (preferably NX / Simcenter CAE environment)
Ability to quickly identify areas of further design optimization and to influence design changes with innovative ideas and solutions
Ability to work to tight deadlines and to manage own time
Analytical and solution-oriented working style combined with excellent communication skills to interface with partners and colleagues in an interdisciplinary environment
