DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategically manage the pressure systems discipline in a fast-paced environment.
  • Responsibility and ownership of team output and performance, including technical review of engineering deliverables, hardware/system requirements, tools, and processes.
  • Resource management and prioritization across active projects.
  • Budget management, including participation in workload projections.
  • Team morale and culture management, including individual one-on-ones.
  • Conflict resolution and removal of impediments.
  • Participate in interviews, as applicable, and provide input for interviewing, hiring, and terminating employees.
  • Performance management and establishment of annual objectives & key results (OKRs) for the pressure team.
  • Review and provide feedback to major design review data packages for discipline.
  • Attend design reviews and lead discipline meetings.
  • Act as a resource to provide guidance, support, and mentorship to engineers within the discipline.
  • Manage and mitigate discipline and level risks.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Report to and support the ECLSS manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field required.
  • Experience leading technical teams larger than 5 people
  • 3-5+ years of experience leading technical teams.
  • Experience in life support systems or other Criticality 1 development and testing of hardware.
  • Prior experience formal test and verification activities.
  • Experience with pressurized lines, Oxygen safety, fittings & quick disconnects, sub ambient system design, and pressure regulation.
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) software such as SolidWorks PDM or similar.
  • Experience with Atlassian suite preferred.
  • Able to work effectively in an Agile / Scrum environment.
  • Ability to motivate and provide clear and concise direction to direct reports.
  • Able to manage project scope and schedule.

 

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

 

Requirements 

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
