About the Role:

Maxar is seeking a Legal Counsel, Contracts to join the International Government team in London. The ideal candidate will possess a commercial awareness with experience working in both a commercial and government contracting capacity. As a member of a dynamic Legal and Compliance team based in the US, you will be working directly with the GM of International Government out of the London office to support the commercial aspect of the international business. The Legal Counsel, Contracts will work closely with key government and defense clients globally, internal Maxar leadership teams, and colleagues within the Legal Department on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the international go-to-market team with drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of contracts and related agreements
  • Practice area will focus on international commercial contracts in the Civil Government and Defense & Intelligence sectors
  • Collaborate with members of the global Legal and Compliance teams, as well as outside counsel
  • Support International team with general corporate matters
  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to the International GM, sales and HR teams
  • Ensure adherence to company-wide processes and procedures


Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor
  • 6+ years of in-house counsel experience at a large, publicly-traded company or equivalent law firm experience
  • Experience with international contracts and licensing
  • Expertise in UK government procurements
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to influence others, both internally and externally
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and advising on international contracts in the Defense & Intelligence or Government sector
  • Cross-jurisdictional experience (EMEA, APAC, LATAM)
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work with key stakeholders and fellow counsel teams in multiple regions globally
  • Team player who demonstrates the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Problem-solver with a strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant foreign government procurement experience preferred
  • US government contracting experience a plus
  • Intellectual property background
