Are you ready to create the future? The Boeing Company, Product & Services Safety is seeking a Senior Regulatory Strategy Specialist to join the Global Safety & Regulatory Affairs – Autonomous Systems team in Brussels, Belgium.

Global Safety & Regulatory Affairs – Autonomous Systems is chartered with enabling a new growth area for The Boeing Company.  The position is responsible for playing an active role in ongoing safety and regulatory developments of significance to the company in the autonomous systems space across the globe, in close collaboration with Boeing International, business units and subsidiaries, and Boeing’s partners. The role will include a global regulatory scope, with an emphasis on Europe.

A successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to operate with velocity and agility, to address the complexity of technical, economic, social-political, and regulatory issues associated with emerging Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) and airspace management technologies, build and leverage close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and collaborate with the Boeing Autonomous Systems Community of Excellence.

Position Responsibilities

  • Act as a key resource for understanding autonomous systems safety and regulatory activities across the globe, with special emphasis on Europe

  • Represent The Boeing Company in various safety and regulatory forums in the area of autonomous systems

  • Engage with EASA and other global Civil Aviation Authorities on Autonomous Systems topics

  • Work across the Boeing Enterprise to leverage existing capabilities and to advance the safe integration of autonomous systems into the global airspace

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Law or Business

  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches

  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment or as an individual contributor while being a champion for regulatory initiatives, objectives and milestones

  • Fluent in both written and verbal English; other languages helpful

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:

  • Global Regulatory Frameworks

  • Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), Advance Air Mobility (AAM)

  • UAS Traffic Management (UTM), U-Space, Air Traffic Management (ATM), Airspace Design

  • Operations Analysis for Autonomous Systems, Autonomous Flight Management

  • UAS Type Certification

  • Demonstrated experience working across organizational boundaries.

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).
