Job description
Duties
- Serve as Organizational Computer Security Official (OCSO) for the IT Systems Supporting the Langley Research Directorate Production Test Facilities.
- Serve as the Directorate Information System Owner (ISO) for the Langley Research Directorate.
- Analyze the access controls for automated systems and the methods of storing, copying, transmitting, and destroying data.
- Analyze and monitor the organization's compliance with Federal and NASA Cybersecurity standards, handbooks, and guidelines.
- Ensure the information systems boundaries prevent the unauthorized release of information and unauthorized communication.
- Ensure managed interfaces for boundary protection of information systems are employed, monitored, audited, and controlled at connection points.
- Manage and coordinate the necessary resources and activities to support cyber security goals and objectives, thereby reducing overall organizational risk.
- Implement the Risk Management Framework, including leading self-assessment activities resulting in authorization decisions.

Qualifications
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
- Adopting risk-based approaches such as the NIST Risk Management Framework and their related process activities and documentation;
- Working collaboratively across functional lines and disciplines to reach a risk-based implementation approach to cybersecurity requirements;
- Providing cybersecurity technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical security issues.
IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
- Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
