Description: The Proposal Writer is a new strategic role within LM Space Proposal Operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with technical teams to generate and implement strategy for compelling and compliant proposal artifacts. The author will partner with subject matter experts, capture managers, and technical teams for a variety of proposal pursuits, including multi-billion-dollar capture efforts. Proposal Writers will work in a co-authoring, collaborative environment to shape messaging to best respond to government solicitations—addressing customer value propositions (CVPs) in keeping with LM’s Win Plan. The successful Writer will use a variety of pathways to create and shape content for the governance, technical, and past performance volumes.
The Proposal Writer will join the diverse and engaged Proposal Operations team, working alongside Proposal Managers, Graphic Artists, Publications Coordinators, and Technical Editors. Proposal Writers round out the full suite of Proposal Operations services for our internal LM customers. This role may present opportunities for domestic and international travel to better support proposal teams through the development process. Primary job responsibilities include:
• Advocating for, and developing, strategic messaging for RFP responses; ensuring that LM’s response is appropriately promoted in writing.
• Collaborating with capture and business development personnel to craft compelling proposal language that aligns with CVPs and LM strategy.
• Coordinating responses to RFPs, RFIs, and other requests as a coauthor, volume lead, or subject matter expert in writing.
• Developing and providing training to large teams on proposal development and writing.
• Collaborating with Proposal Operations team members to provide seamless, consistently high-quality proposal support.
• Addressing reviewer feedback in a judicious manner to ensure compliant and compelling products.
• Working as a collaborator on large and diverse teams from across LM and subcontractors.
Basic Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience in technical, persuasive, or proposal writing
• Ability to collaborate and build effective relationships on a diverse team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
• Ability to acquire and retain a TS/SCI clearance
Desired Skills:
• Experience with the federal proposal acquisition process and evaluation criteria
• Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry
• Education in journalism, communication, or STEM fields
• Current TS/SCI security clearance
• Proposal Management experience
• Capture Management experience
• Related advanced degree
• Strong presentation and collaboration skills
• Experience using historical databases for mining writing content

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $82,100 - $157,500. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
