Job description
A pool of Technical Architects are required to reinforce and strengthen the engineering department with the required skillset to advance its evolution in a growth context (in this case, Systems). The Architect will bring a wealth of technical experience in their area of expertise to advance Astroscale France’s position, and support the development of our new office in Toulouse through their passion for space and space sustainability.

The Technical Architects are the right hand of the Technical Director. The Technical Director delegates a number of responsibilities to them to ensure Astroscale France delivers on time and with ambition in their new missions.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to
- Receive the Technical Director’s delegation of authority in relation to technical decisions
- Act as technical reviewer for their field of specialism across each of the engineering domains
- Be the key referent/ first point of contact in case of technical queries that cannot be managed by the respective teams
- Work across the engineering teams to ensure problems are managed from identification through to resolution. Help resolve technical problems as and when they arise
- Analyse issues breaking them down into smaller manageable parts
- Oversee the technical development and implementation of assigned programs in the relevant project reviews, and guides teams
- Ensure quality of standards and procedures across engineering, defining, mapping and proposing processes and procedures
- Ensure overall progress is reported to the Technical Director
Essential Skills
- Masters engineering degree in an associated field. PhD desirable.
- At least 10-15+ years’ experience in spacecraft level system architecture, design and development
- Experience working with businesses delivering long-term complex projects and programmes
- Analytically excellent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels
- Resilience, passion for results
- Curious, problem-solving skills, challenges the status quo
- Principles led and impeccable work ethic
- The ability to act as a role model for Astrocale’s culture
- Demonstrates behaviours in line with Astroscale values (mission and people focused, transparent, innovative and pioneering, diverse and customer focused)
- Fluent in French and English
- Ability to travel occasionally
