Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit, and which carries cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented Life Cycle Assessment and Eco Design Intern to help us in our mission by assessing and improving the environmental impact of our products throughout their entire life cycle.

You will be successful in this role if you can help us:
  • Evaluate and reduce the environmental impact of our Nyx capsules
  • Incorporate eco-design principles into our product development process

Key Responsibilities



In your capacity as a Life Cycle Assessment and Eco Design Intern, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:
  • Conducting life cycle assessments (LCA) of our products, considering all stages from material extraction to end-of-life
  • Creation / Customization of the database to perform LCA
  • Automatization of the processes related to LCA in connection with the MBSE tool (Python knowledge would be beneficial)
  • Identifying opportunities to minimize environmental impact through eco-design
  • Developing strategies for implementing ISO 14062 (environmental management - integrating environmental aspects into product design and development) in our processes
  • Collaborating with various teams to implement environmental improvements
  • Research on the methodology for the environmental impact related to re-entry operations

What we would love to see from you


In the role of Life Cycle Assessment and Eco Design Intern ideally, you will have the following:
  • Currently studying or recently graduated in Environmental Science, Industrial Design, Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge or experience with Life Cycle Assessment and Eco Design is an asset, but not mandatory
  • Familiarity with ISO 14062 and other relevant environmental standards is an asset, but not mandatory
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Passion for sustainable development and environmental protection in the space industry
