We’re on the hunt for a Manufacturing Lead/Supervisor on our Robotics and Space Operations team at our Kanata office.

Robotics & Space Operations: With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true. As our Manufacturing Lead/Supervisor, you will coordinate manufacturing resources to ensure the successful, on-time delivery of company products to the customer. Responsibilities include managing manufacturing staff, equipment and resources for the assembly, integration and test of products.

BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assumes responsibility for executing site priorities for the manufacturing group
  • Interfaces with operational and technical groups to understand upcoming deadlines and plan work to achieve them
  • Support Manufacturing Manager and Engineers in the development of manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment
  • Writes and approves production orders and instructions based on product designs
  • Supports the improvement of manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
  • Supports manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs, reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements
  • Prepares product & process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information & trends
  • Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
  • Works to maximize the company’s ability to achieve cost effective design and/or manufacture of company products
  • Plans and implements manufacturing best practices and institute changes required of impacted systems (i.e. information technology, processes, etc.)
  • Manages and ensures product delivery
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Manufacturing Manager

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides formal guidance to assigned staff
  • Leadership of functional teams includes:
    • Developing plans towards continuous improvement
    • Providing feedback to staff on their performance through the performance management process
    • Recommends broader procedural changes to improve effectiveness of the group
    • Participating in the technical work within the team by overseeing and advising others and by contributing directly to the development of solutions
    • Coordinating and reporting on the schedule of deliverables agreed to for the team

 

KNOWLEGDE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • A university degree or college diploma in engineering or equivalent
  • CAD and SoildWorks expertise
  • Understanding of Mechanical Design
  • Familiarity with mechanical assembly procedures and tools
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures, project management, work flow analysis, assembly processes and customer requirements as they related to products under development
  • Knowledge of manufacturing quality
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary Engineering/Manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of leadership skills including the ability to inspire confidence and create trust
  • Team player and demonstrates a high level of integrity
  • 6-10 years of relevant experience
  • Eligible to obtain Secret Level II Clearance
