INTERN @ SPACEWORKS


Are you seeking a degree in engineering? Do you thrive in the unknown and go above and beyond to solve difficult challenges?


SpaceWorks is seeking college student interns for the Summer 2024 (May- August) to support a few of our functional engineering teams. We are seeking students with experience and interest in Systems, Aerodynamics, Propulsion, and Avionics.


Interns will work within a small team of engineers and embedded systems developers on the design, development, testing, and evaluation future spacecraft, small satellite, reentry capsules, and hypersonic flight systems. We are passionate about what we do and we’re looking for someone with a keen interest in high-speed flight, aircraft, rockets, small satellites, and/or space exploration. We work with sponsors at the US Air Force, NASA, and other organizations, partnering to develop a range of advanced technologies. Given the nature of our work, US Person status is required. The position is located 100% onsite at our Atlanta, GA office and is a seasonal, full-time (hourly) position.


A DAY IN THE LIFE


  • Work with a team of professionals at SpaceWorks to analyze parts, components, and assemblies that comprise advanced aerospace systems 
  • Create and modify CAD models, documentation, vendor purchase orders, and other engineering work products
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, research sponsors, vendors, and others


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


  • College student pursuing a degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, or a related field
  • Computer aided design tools such as Solid Edge, Unigraphics NX, Solid Works, CATIA, and/or PTC Creo
  • Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio
  • Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity with the basic principles of version control systems
  • Available 40 hours per week for Summer 2024 (May- August)
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Involvement/ leadership in organizations on campus, passion projects in backyard, and strong GPA
  • MUST be able to work in-person for the duration of the internship located in Atlanta, GA
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)


BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE...


  • Experience with aero tools such as CBAero and Cart3D
  • Familiarity with modeling in languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, Fortran and/or MATLAB
  • Fluid network modeling tools such as GFSSP
  • Finite element modeling and optimization tools such as ANSYS, FEMAP, NASTRAN, and/or Abaqus
  • Internal flow computational modeling tools such as OpenFOAM, Star-CCM+, and/or ANSYS-Fluent
  • Experience with schematic capture tool, such as Eagle
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools, such as PSPICE
