As part of a small, hardworking, passionate, diverse, and accomplished team of experts, you will directly support Blue Origin’s success act as the key technical interface between the production value stream (procurement, R&D, testing, quality, and operations) and the design engineering teams.  As a production engineer supporting the Engines Division, you will participate in design for manufacturability reviews of internally built and supplier hardware.  Additional responsibilities include support of tool and process development, ensuring the manufactured product meets the design intent, as well as supporting various cross-functional teams responsible for manufacturing, test, design & analysis to troubleshoot design/build problems throughout the product lifecycle. As an early career engineer, you will help facilitate producibility projects and support the use of those projects across the factory. You will be responsible for embedding yourself into the manufacturing organizations and providing assistance in design for manufacturability, process development, and execution through hands-on floor support, communication, training, and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for production support of BE-3, BE-4 and other future rocket engine families from build flow conception through production. 

  • Provide design for manufacturability and assembly recommendations to decrease cost and integration flow times of existing and future engine product lines. 

  • Support hardware integration on the floor and troubleshoot issues as they arise throughout at our Huntsville, AL and Kent, WA engine facilities.

  • Interpret engineering models, drawings, specification, work instructions and test procedures to support non conformance review assessments. 

  • Support/develop standard repair/rework procedures to streamline process

  • Perform root cause and corrective action, as applicable, to determine long term solutions to systemic defects and/or implement preventative actions.

  • Maintain documentation pedigree in a fast-paced environment to ensure traceability of decisions and as design/as built configuration to support safe human flight.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings and specifications. 

  • Knowledge of large aerospace vehicle engine propulsion components or large turbine/turbomachinery in a design and/or manufacturing environment.

  • Basic familiarity of GD&T and applicable standards (ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41) 

  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing, machining, forming, castings, welding and/or assembly of high precision components.

  • Highly organized team player with excellent technical communication skills (written and verbal) with exceptional interpersonal skills that foster positive professional relationships.

  • Strong coordination skills to track, manage, and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks. 

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace engineering or equivalent technical field.

  • Strong CAD skills, preferably in Creo Parametric.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
