  • This role is part of Engineering & Program Management (EPM), where we provide technical standards, tools, processes, training, and subject matter expertise for product engineering and manufacturing. EPM allows all Blue Origin business units to benefit from commonly used capabilities, hardware, and software and assists business units in identifying, selecting, and training engineers from both inside and outside the organization.

Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. We are a team of engineers who are relentlessly focused on improving engineering productivity.  We work with avionics teams across the business to understand what is holding them back and collaboratively create solutions that help them go fast without compromising safety.  We use metrics and data-driven thinking to identify winning solutions and institutionalize them through training, and documentation.  We work as an agile scrum team that sits within the Avionics Center of Excellence and are composed of engineers who are passionate about building processes and tools that enable continuous improvement. 

      

    We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise in infrastructure engineering, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required! 

     

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Deploy, maintain and troubleshoot internal and off-the-shelf applications to drive quality, value and efficiency across the Avionics software lifecycle 

    • Provide informed infrastructure expertise and support to Avionics customers and stakeholders throughout the company 

    • Collect and analyze data to develop a deep understanding of, and continuously improve; service performance, observability and robustness 

     

    Qualifications:

    • At least 3 years professional experience in an infrastructure or infrastructure-adjacent role 

    • Expert level knowledge of deploying, configuring and maintaining Linux-based software in production environments 

    • Demonstrated competence with at least one programming language, e.g. Python, Golang, Ruby, Perl, etc. 

    • Deep understanding of architecting and deploying infrastructure to a public cloud; including virtual servers, databases, caching layers, load balancers, etc.

    • Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, CircleCI or Jenkins  

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs 

    • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 

    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. 

    • Significant ability to develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code for cloud resources, virtual environments and / or physical workstations (e.g. Ansible, Helm, Terraform) 

    • Minimum of a B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field

     

    Desired:

    • Experience configuring and troubleshooting managed networking hardware (Cisco, Juniper, etc.) and network-related issues 

    • ​Exposure to relational databases (managed or otherwise) from an administration perspective - configuring, troubleshooting and optimizing

    • Experience working in hardware-related contexts or owning infrastructure to support embedded applications 

    • Windows system administration and deployment experience 

      - Experience migrating applications from on-prem to the cloud, between clouds or from physical to virtual 

       

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is
$141,480$216,936 USD
