We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This position is part of the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit. SSD develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably.
As part of a hardworking team of diverse spacecraft development engineers, you will define on the electrical power subsystem of our innovative space vehicles. This role is integral to the success of our missions, requiring a deep understanding of spacecraft power systems, including batteries, solar arrays, power distribution, and conversion. Our ideal candidate is someone who not only excels in the design and development of electrical power system components but also demonstrates a profound commitment to our bold mission.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design and develop electrical power subsystem components including spacecraft batteries, solar arrays, efficient power distribution and conversion electronics, and wire harnessing.
Develop and maintain electrical power subsystem requirements and documentation.
Conduct detailed trade studies that result in selecting optimal mission-suitable subsystem hardware.
Develop and manage the spacecraft powered equipment list that tracks load power usage in all mission scenarios.
Conduct concise subsystem analyses, including orbit energy balance, voltage drop, peak power usage, and system efficiency.
Conduct thorough electrical module analyses, including Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA), part stress analysis, signal integrity, power integrity, and Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
Develop the system power quality specification and ensure compliance to it by all system hardware.
Flow requirements down from vehicle to component level and facilitate verification and validation of those requirements.
Expertly troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with the vehicle electrical power system components - finding root cause and implementing corrective actions.
Engage and manage relationships with subsystem component suppliers ensuring they deliver hardware that meets requirements and is delivered on time.
Continuously update knowledge on latest industry trends and advancements in space vehicle power systems
Collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary engineering teams, contributing to a culture of technical ambition and operational excellence.
