Job description
Are you looking for a truly rewarding hands on career, either building upon technical skills gained from another industry or perhaps embarking on your first steps into a technical role. We are currently looking for a trainee to join our growing flight assembly team. The team is responsible for building flight hardware for satellites that get launched into Space!
You will embark on a 2-year (could be less depending on candidate experience) training programme, with on-the-job training provided by our in-house technical experts, with the goal of achieving certification to recognised industrial standards. Upon satisfactory completion of the traineeship, you would be offered a permanent role as a qualified Flight Assembly Technician.
Role requirements
At the end of the traineeship, the role shall be focussed on building flight hardware. This will include PCA, Module build, and harness work. Hand placement and automated machines.
- Working in a cleanroom environment
- Working to build instructions and drawings
- Soldering of printed circuit boards
- Use of Microscopes
- Assemble in-house cable assemblies.
- Working on automated equipment, bonders, inspection machines
- Other activities as delegated
The training programme shall ensure that the individual possess the right skills and experience to undertake these duties at completion as a qualified Flight Assembly Technician.
Qualifications Knowledge & Skills
- Practical, hands-on ability. Genuine interest and satisfaction in hands-on work
- Familiar with soldering (but not an expert)
- Good planning and organising skills
- Clear communication skills
- Commitment to take own initiative
- Good team working skills and desire to support others
- Good general computing skills (word processing and basic spreadsheets) Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Able to demonstrate company mindsets and behaviours; Be accountable, Drive & delivery, communicate effectively, Self-manage effectively, Work as one team.
Location
The role is based on site in Guildford.
Contract Duration
Commencing January 2024 - fixed term contract with the view of going permanent at the end of the training programme.
