Vast is looking for a VP, Supply Chain, reporting to the CEO, to support the development and execution of our supply chain and quality systems and programs that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach, CA location, with periodic visits to our locations in Hawthorne, CA and Mojave, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish key metrics for the Supply Chain function at Vast.
  • Build and develop a team that is agile and responsive to the needs of the business.
  • Understand how purchasing habits affect cash flow and optimize for maximum ROI.
  • Provide company-wide reporting on departmental spend, ticketing, and other metrics.
  • Work with the purchasing department to ensure vendors are approved, vetted and insured.
  • Lead requirements development processes for programs related to the management of equipment and inventory.
  • Establish and implement Standard Operating Procedures for the Supply Chain organization.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement at a systems level.
  • Develop strategies which enable the team to remain lean.
  • In conjunction with quality organization, evaluate and monitor supplier quality and reliability, as well as supplier ability to support required delivery schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or Management, Information Technology, or Engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant logistics/supply chain management experience.
  • Professional training completions or certifications relevant to supply chain or logistics management.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to easily navigate through different computer software programs.
  • Ability to create and update request for proposals (RFPs), purchase orders (POs) and work orders in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software application.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to make independent decisions with limited information.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Logical and strategic approach to solving problems.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment balancing several projects at any given time with the flexibility to respond to sudden changes in strategic direction.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work overtime, or weekends to support critical mission milestones.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.

Pay Range:

  • VP, Supply Chain Level VII: $220,000-$280,000

Base salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand. Salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package. The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
