Job description

Working for Open Cosmos

Aim high, go beyond! At Open Cosmos we are solving the world’s biggest challenges from space, providing businesses, governments and researchers access to more readily available information than ever before - ready for the challenge? Then read on…

Working in the Data Team

Our team is responsible for providing value to our geospatial customers. Value can be provided through our easy-to-use tool, our comprehensive and coherent data catalogue, or through our array of insight partners. Due to the variety of use-cases we serve, our team is multidisciplinary, incorporating front and back end developers, data engineers and scientists, sales and customer support, and product management and design. We follow a highly agile methodology, we look for suggestions & contributions from all team members, and we’re not afraid to try new ways of working when we see an opportunity for improvement.

What will you be doing?

As Open Cosmos’ data offering, from both third party providers and from our own Open Constellation & satellite fleets, moves into a phase of rapid expansion, you’ll be ensuring we establish long, lasting, and fruitful relationships with our data and insights providers.

You’ll be working with a diverse set of partners, from EO and IoT data providers to insights and value added partners. You’ll have to understand the needs from our customers and make sure we have the right partner to meet their needs. To do so, you will need a strong understanding of the earth observation data market and the direction it is constantly evolving in.

You’ll be the main point of contact for our partners at Open Cosmos, apart from understanding their needs and motivations, you have to be a confident communicator.

As you progress, you will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the product and data available on our platform as well as contributing to the team’s design decision based on your expert knowledge and insights.

What you need to be successful

We’re more interested in what you can do than being dogmatic about your background! We’d love to take a look at your CV even if you’re not sure you tick all the boxes.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Extensive knowledge of EO data products and value added products with an understanding of the market.
  • Strong network in the geospatial analytics and imagery provision community
  • Be a fluent communicator with strong negotiation and capability in building partnerships.
  • Capable of matching corporate and institutional needs with start up and data analytic applications.
  • Executive mindset with a drive for constant improvement and ability to work with a diverse team.

What we offer:

  • Prefer to mostly WFH, that's fine! Need to take 30 mins at 3pm to get the kids from school? Go ahead!
We're more interested in your contributions than when and where you're working.
  • 25 Days holiday in addition to national holidays.
  • Team members can enjoy Medicash, income protection and death in service benefits.
  • Enhanced parental leave.
  • Having a successful team makes a successful company. We're at the forefront of technology so learning and building an enabling career for you is central to OC!
