The Telemetry and Hardware Technology Department (THTD) provides mission assurance through real-time processing and archiving of launch vehicle telemetry data using computer hardware and software systems. THTD supports pre-launch, day-of-launch, sub-system, and major system tests for the Delta IV, Atlas V, Vulcan, and SpaceX Falcon rockets as a component of the Spacelift Telemetry Acquisition and Reporting System (STARS).

Hybrid: This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with most onsite work required in El Segundo, CA

What You’ll Be Doing

The ideal candidate will be an active team member developing novel software products with an opportunity to engage cross-organizationally potentially spanning data architectures, cloud migration, modeling & simulation, data science (AI/ML), advanced visualizations, augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), and embedded systems.

  • Developing vehicle telemetry processing software in support of launch operations for the STARS facility.
  • Developing and enhancing cloud-native applications.
  • Support performance assessment and anomaly resolution of software systems.
  • Deliver high quality products and documentation to customers on schedule.
  • Training and mentorship will be provided.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements: (Senior Member of Technical Staff)

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of Telemetry, Hardware Technology or Engineering industry experience.
  • Java, C++ programming knowledge.
  • Familiar with Windows and Linux programming environments.
  • Capability to learn new software tools as they are introduced.
  • Great organizational and communication skills and ability to think and plan-ahead.
  • Ability to work both independently, and cooperatively within a team.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, issued by the US government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • 8+ years of Telemetry, Hardware Technology or Engineering industry experience.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Active/Current security clearance
  • Knowledge of Telemetry-over-IP (TMoIP) streams
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools for data pipelines, cloud storage, and interactive visualization dashboards
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
  • Experience working with data streaming/movement technologies gRPC, Kafka, or Nifi
  • Version control and automation experience using technologies like Jenkins, Git, and Maven
  • Operational experience in space or ground telemetry systems

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
