The Director of DE&I will develop, implement, assess, and own the execution of programs that weave DE&I into our DNA to build an engaging and inclusive environment that works for all. You will be pivotal in crafting a tailored strategy to attract and retain talent that drives our mission of building a road to space with an inclusive lens. You will work across the company to improve culture, align diversity, equity, and inclusion goals with business outcomes, and respond to changes and policies that affect employees and partners. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to delivering results to positively impact Blue Origin’s business performance.
You will lead a team ensuring effective collaboration across all other functional areas within HR. This role reports to the Senior Vice President Human Resources (CHRO) and collaborates with other members of the HR leadership team.
Responsibilities:
- Actively engage as a change agent and thought leader for developing best practices, challenging the status quo, and crafting an inclusive culture
- Leverage superior communication skills to successfully interact, engage, and cultivate positive relationships and establish effective partnerships across the enterprise. Influence leaders and decision makers through facilitation and mentoring on DEI matters.
- Advocate for DE&I initiatives through storytelling, leveraging data, and personal narratives.
- Improve the organization's competitive edge and apply relevant data and market trends to create strategy focused on pillars of talent, culture, and community.
- Analyze public policy and operationalize DEI strategy to ensure compliance with governing institutions.
- Translate strategies into tactical plans with clear actions, accountability, and goals to promote outstanding DE&I practices.
- Develop scalable DE&I training programs across all levels focused on understanding and appreciating individual differences, and work towards creating an inclusive work environment.
- Identify and understand systematic barriers for the underrepresented communities. Partner with COEs to implement structural changes to HR programs that increase retention and representation of talent at all levels including leadership.
- Develop quantitative and qualitative methods to measure the effectiveness of diversity initiatives and prepare impactful executive summaries with insights to senior management. In partnership with People Analytics, develop, improve, and lead all aspects of DE&I metrics and dashboards.
- Support Business Resource and Community Groups in strategy development.
- Advise the Senior Leader Diversity Council and business resource groups on following through with DE&I goals and metrics.
- Partner with senior leadership team to integrate DE&I into core decisions throughout the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree OR combination of equivalent relevant professional experience and certifications/education
- 10+ years’ experience in Human Resources to include experience working as or reporting to a DE&I Leader building and scaling DE&I programs
- Experience with producing and achieving stated numeric DE&I Goals and Objectives
- Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving employment, HR, and HR policies, including EEOC, Affirmative Action and Compliance requirements for federal contractors
- Ability to partner with leaders to enable a consistent, authentic, fair, and equitable approach to business priorities
- Ability to earn trust, collaborate, and maintain positive and professional relationships, with various stakeholders internally and externally
- Ability to navigate the tactical, operational, and strategic needs of a growing function, and proven success in an environment of ambiguity and change
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors or advanced degree in HR, Organizational Development, Business, or related field
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated effectiveness managing diverse collaborators including but not limited to executives, employee groups, external vendors, and consultants
- Completed certifications in Human Resources, Organizational Design, or related field

Benefits
Employee Benefits include: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave (must be employed at time of birth or adoption), short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program available after 1 year of service.
Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.
Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
