As an Avionics Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and deliver mission-critical flight software. By partnering cross-functionally with domain stakeholders you will be responsible for ensuring mission success. Your key contributions will have a direct impact on the design and reliability of the rocket design.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop highly reliable flight critical software solutions in a modular and extensible manner
Design frameworks that are leveraged across various critical flight and testbed designs
Collaborate across domains to help develop hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testbed simulation capabilities of our vehicles
Develop and maintain data analysis tooling for sub-system verification
Partner with domain REs to understand issues and develop efficient software solutions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S. degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related subject area.
1+ years of relevant experience working in software/firmware environment, along with experience and proficiency with programming and scripting languages (C++, C, C#, Python, Lua, etc.)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Programming experience in C++, C#, Rust, or similar OOP language
2+ proven years of relevant experience in a startup environment
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Preference for and ability to thrive as a member of a small agile team in a dynamic environment
Proven history of designing new software systems
Familiarity with Unix-like operating systems
Demonstrated electrical engineering, digital and analog circuit fundamentals, and lab skills (ability to read schematics, understand datasheets, debug PCBs)
Experience with test automation and automated data analysis
Experience creating software documentation and system diagrams
Experience using version control and CI/CD concepts

End-to end ownership: projects are delivered fully complete and ready for flight

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment
