Come join our Support Systems Engineering team as an early career Mechanical Engineer located at the Navy's Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific in Silverdale, WA! Our department specializes in problem solving - from immediate production line stoppages to long term program project completion. Our team works with an array of FBM support equipment - electrical, mechanical and weight handling. We are the Lockheed Martin FBM Ground Support Equipment experts at SWFPAC!
This position provides real world experiences within the aerospace testing and manufacturing field. There is a variety of technical issues that drives analyzing engineering specifications to resolve problems with mechanical ground support equipment. Candidate should have an understanding and ability to apply basic engineering principles, theories and concepts.
You will work directly with, and around, FBM D5 missile hardware and support equipment in production processing buildings. The job involves both in office analytical analysis while also getting out into the field and working directly with hardware and the equipment operators and technicians.
In this role you will:
1) Understand and apply engineering principles, theories, and concepts to develop solutions to a variety of technical problems of varying complexity
2) Troubleshoot to isolate cause then provide correction to anomalous/malfunctioning support equipment
3) Become proficient and learn the design and operation of FBM support equipment - equipment that includes aspects of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic designs
4) Generate, analyze, revise, and publish technical procedures/documentation to FBM program requirements
5) Validate acceptance of new processes and upgrades/alterations to equipment
This role does not include a focus on design/development engineering related tasks however candidate must have ability to understand existing designs and recommend changes to our design engineering teams. There is some limited design work such as developing local production aides. The position also includes support and development of engineering studies that involve process/product root cause and corrective action, data/metrics analysis and targeted program system/process improvements. Candidates who possess abilities in both electrical and mechanical/aerospace engineering fields are a plus.
This role requires support to day and swing shift hours. Occasional overtime weekend support is also needed. Some travel is expected to other FBM sites. Candidate works in a team environment under the general direction of a group lead.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering degree program (for example: Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, etc.) from an accredited college/university.
• Ability to obtain an Interim Secret prior to starting employment and ability to maintain a final DoD Secret security clearance. U.S. Citizenship required. The successful candidate cannot have dual citizenship.
Desired Skills:
• Demonstrated understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and/or electrical systems
• 2D or 3D CAD experience/training
• Have recent/current security clearance
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment.

These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $67,400 - $129,300. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
