Lunar: This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.
As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers and leaders, you will lead the organization of future software development for all lunar vehicles. You will ensure successful delivery of Displays and Controls flight software products for the Lunar Crew Module. Working alongside the cockpit integration team, you will work with human systems integration and operators to develop interfaces for onboard crew. The interface includes commanding, viewing telemetry, alarms, procedure execution and manual piloting. Reporting to the software director of Lunar Transportation, you will work with Systems, Assembly, Operations and other Integrated Product Teams to ensure coordinated development to meet integration milestones.
You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible and accountable for directing the technical team to develop and deliver flight software products that meets mission objectives and satisfy requirements while balancing cost, schedule, and risk.
- Assist in product portfolio definition, specification, and statement of work creates plans and tracking of the Deliverables to satisfy that scope.
- Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team.
- Manage your direct reports’ professional development (e.g., performance evaluations, compensation and promotion management, routine one-on-one development conversations) and coach them on performance.
- Develop robust plans meeting deliverables and manage to the key operating metrics - including technical, cost, schedule, and risk - reporting regularly to management and the team on progress.
- Perform technical work and provide technical leadership of the highest caliber.
- Monitor technical progress, requirements, budget, schedule, deliverables and risks as well as review recommendations for change with program management.
- Coordinate with the SIL and Verification manager to ensure verification plans meet system safety requirements. Provide resources to the verification team following development.
- Utilize good engineering and business judgement to ensure the most efficient and effective product is designed, tested, and delivered.
- Develop product roadmaps, working with internal and external customers to understand how your product integrates to meet current and future mission needs.
- Work independently toward long-range objectives without appreciable direction and determine the technical objectives of assignments to develop approaches to solutions.
- Embody, promote, and coach the Blue Origin leadership principles.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years managing technical teams and/or leading functional groups with responsibility for leading and coaching employees.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, including managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, and cost.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with human rated space vehicle flight software development and verification.
- Experience with DO-178C and safety critical applications.
- Familiar with agile project management.
- Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
- Experience running subcontracts.
- Experience with verification, integration, and test, of orbital launch vehicles or human rated spacecraft.
