Chief Software Architect

This position is for a Chief Software Architect in either Aurora, CO or King of Prussia, PA.  In this role, you will be responsible for technical leadership, system design, and implementation of complex government system architectures for national critical systems. You will be a key decision maker in defining "how" a system will be implemented to meet its requirements.  This responsibility is expected to evolve over the course of a program and includes fostering customer intimacy to ensure full understanding of the customer's needs and then working with the chief engineer to realize that vision.

We are looking for someone who is customer mission focused and passionate about providing technical leadership in software architecture and design of complex government systems. Additionally, you should have the ability to create system designed based upon requirements analysis, develop system architectures for enterprise level systems, create and maintain interface definition APIs, and perform software design tasks.. This candidate will be joining our team of distributed engineers to help shape the development and delivery of custom applications and advanced R&D solutions for our customers. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to grow and hone your skills with other talented individuals at Stratagem.

Salary Information

The annual salary range for this role is $160,000 to $200,000; however, Stratagem considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

 

Requirements

Our ideal candidate is proficient technical leader that has previous experience with government mission systems and is passionate about providing technical leadership to a team of software and system engineers.   You should possess deep knowledge of the software engineering best practices and apply them to the software architecture.   You will leverage forward-leaning software design to enable reuse, expedite software delivery schedules, and clearly communicate technical details to program leadership and development team. This candidate will be joining our team of engineers to shape the development and delivery of custom applications and advanced R&D solutions for our customers. 

 

As Chief Architect, your responsibilities include:

• Leading engineering development teams in all aspects of software development to achieve program and technical success through the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Continuously apply technical knowledge to determine and set technical objectives to analyze, investigate, and resolve advanced engineering problems
• Evaluating the engineering solution, including the software design, development, documentation, and deployment procedures
• Communicating engineering status, risks or issues involving system performance, availability, or security to program leadership and the customer
• Holding technical exchange meetings with government customer to brief engineering design for government review and approval mechanisms.
• Understanding, evaluating, and recommending new technologies that can enhance the performance of a software system

 

Required Skills

• You have an active TS/SCI clearance with SSBI
• Prior experience as a Chief Architect, Associate Chief Architect, or proven track record of providing technical leadership for teams throughout the whole software development lifecycle and transitioning capabilities into a classified government operational environment
• Effective cross-organizational communicator with the ability to work well on a small team in a fast-paced environment that includes the ability to multi-task across efforts and still ensure program milestones and deadlines are met
• Proven track record of leading agile software engineering efforts across the entire lifecycle including design, development, configuration and integration, testing, and delivery to end users
• Familiarity with software development in AWS, AZURE or a similar cloud and architecture concepts that dedicate those system designs and architecture

• Familiarity with cloud services for a Kubernetes software deployment and management solution, virtual machine management, object management, serverless function

• The ability to perform in depth system engineering activities and then translate those into actionable software development concepts and implementations
• Experience reviewing merge requests for technical soundness, adherence to coding standards, and that the solution has been properly tested (to include modifying or adding new unit tests, integration tests, etc)Demonstrated experience working projects across dispersed organizations and geographical locations
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and engagement with virtual teams

• Demonstrated business acumen and ability to balance technical requirements with business needs

• Experience with any of the following concepts:

• • Satellite communication planning for both individual satellite scenarios and constellations
  • SIGINT and GEOINT data processing
  • Satellite command and control / C2
  • Satellite tasking for GEOINT / SIGINT collection concepts
  • Advanced mission planning for satellite base operations and payload operation / integration layers
