SSSD has an opening for an Electrical Hardware Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) organization supporting the Electronics Assembly and Test Department (EA&T). This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA.
The Test Engineering group in the Electronics Assembly and Test Department (EA&T) is looking for an Electrical Hardware Test Engineer with experience:
- Working with a cross-disciplinary team (including technicians, design engineers, system engineers, quality engineers, and program management)
- Writing test procedures
- Supporting board, module, and unit-level electronic testing of Digital, RF, Optical, and Power Converter products
Hardware Test Engineer is responsible for:
- Working with the product design team to maximize product testability
- Interfacing with the test set design group for the development of test plans
- Reviewing test equipment and test set requirements to ensure compatibility with available facilities
- Identifying test fixtures that will be needed in support of production testing
- Providing test flows and work plan instructions
- Writing, reviewing, and approving all test procedures
During the test phase of production, test engineers are EA&T’s test liaison with systems engineering, design engineering, software engineering, test set support, security, process planning, environmental test (such as vibration and thermal vacuum testing), quality, and program management. Test engineers are responsible for providing technical support for generating procedure change orders, dispositioning test discrepancy reports, and providing on-floor technical support during production.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of engineering experience
- One year of experience working in a hardware manufacturing environment
- Must have U.S. Citizenship
Preferred Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of engineering experience
- Presenting status to program/customer
- Working with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, signal generators, etc.
- Working in a hardware manufacturing environment
- Working with facilities (IT, electricians) to ensure necessary test set requirements are met.
- Supporting flight hardware troubleshooting and reviewing test data
- Familiar with different product types (i.e., Digital, RF, Power, Optical, etc.)
