Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Shop Manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the VP of CNC Manufacturing, the CNC Machine Shop Manager will work with the 1st shift and 2nd shift leads to manage and monitor the day-to-day operations of the Machine Shop. Candidate will be responsible for upholding production numbers while maintaining a high standard of quality. Candidate must be familiar with Haas and Mazak CNC Machines and have excellent knowledge in the set up and running of CNC machines.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  •          Daily, weekly, and monthly staffing scheduling and management to ensure projects are adequately resourced with the required skillset
  •          Assist the VP of CNC Manufacturing in day to day tasks and assist in report making. Must be fluent with Excel, word and other Microsoft based office software.
  •          Drive consistent adherence to and improvement of production processes to ensure world-class quality product standards
  •          Lead manufacturing activities and represented the workforce to accomplish schedule and quality objectives for the shop floor
  •          Assign daily tasks to machinists and manage execution
  •          Assure the timeliness and accuracy of work orders
  •          Analyze and resolve work problems
  •          Leadership experience with demonstrated performance driving continuous improvement with MRP/ERP
  •          Supervise employees and establish teamwork between departments
  •          Maintain documentation in an orderly manner

Qualifications and Skills 

  •          Familiarity with standard aerospace manufacturing materials and processes
  •          Experience with CAD/CAM (Mastercam, Hypermill) software and manufacturing processes
  •          Geometric dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  •          Demonstrate leadership and supervisory skills
  •          Prior experience with everyday work holding tools and a good understanding of setup best practices
  •          7 + years of experience in a CNC machining environment in the aerospace, medical, or other manufacturing sectors
  •          2 + years of experience in management leading a team, or running a small business
  •          Strong leadership and project management skills
  •          Experience leading the troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution of manufacturing issues
  •          Persistent drive for continuous improvement and standardization
  •          Excellent understanding of CNC setup and operation in both prototype and production settings
  •          Fluent in G-code (Haas/Fanuc) and Siemen’s programming languages
  •          Familiarity with CNC machine operation, processes, best practices, and maintenance
  •          Capable of creating new machine setups for location and work holding using industry best practices

Salary Range: $100,000-$147,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands

An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage.

Work Environment

The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
