As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, you will provide subject matter expertise to engineering and production resources related to EHS for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of safety and health compliance with local, state, and federal regulations at the Orbital Launch Site (OLS) Manufacturing facility including, but not limited to: OSHA, PSM, NFPA, and ANSI requirements.  You will ensure environmental compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, but not limited to: NEPA, RCRA, SWPPP, SPCC, and NPDES.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations at all OLS facilities.  
  • Prepare and submit reports to federal and state regulatory agencies as required
  • Continually update and ensure compliance with the Blue Origin processes and procedures
  • Indoctrinate new employees on our EHS Program
  • Assist in waste disposal activities including hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, universal waste, and recycling materials
  • Contribute to the injury/illness and near miss reporting process
  • Develop, update, and deliver EHS training
  • Serve as site focal point for safety and environmental issues and concerns
  • Evaluate operations for continuous process improvement and implementation of preventive action measures
  • Supporting development of job hazard analyses and risk assessments
  • Provide subject matter expertise to engineering and production resources related to EHS
  • Provide EHS related input for building design and operations
  • Perform periodic audits of our Safety Programs

 

Qualifications:

  • 3-6 years of related EHS experience
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or occupational safety
  • Knowledge and ability to use industrial hygiene tools and monitors.
  • Expertise in writing technical reports.
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA and State of Florida regulations
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management methods
  • Knowledge of incident / accident reporting practices, investigations, root cause / corrective action processes
  • Good analytical skills and attention to details, technical writing, with an ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information
  • Candidate must be able to lift/carry up to fifty pounds. Must be able to physically climb multiple flights stairs, withstand prolonged standing, and work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

 

Desired:

  • 8+ years total work in EHS
  • 7+ years work experience in operational aerospace environment, manufacturing, or chemical industry
  • Expertise in Life Safety Code (NFPA 101)
  • ASP, CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.

Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
