Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Space Launch Systems (SLS) team is seeking a first line Space Launch Systems Production Engineering Manager located in New Orleans, LA. The selected candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Production architecture at Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) and Kennedy Space Center (KSC).

The team will be focused on the Core Stage Engine Section structural and integration build with an accelerated production plan to meet program milestones. There will be daily complex challenges to help navigate a path forward with cross-functional support.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead a Manufacturing Engineering team in support of SLS Core Stage production
  • Responsible for the build architecture and lean implementation of affordable and safe production processes and tools
  • Oversee the program Design and Build Integration which includes creation and integration of the manufacturing build plan with design engineering offer dates and production schedules supporting multiple sites
  • Ensure the complete Production System is documented within the SLS Manufacturing Plan, Environmental Safety and Health assessments, build architecture and flow, dimensional management, tooling, fabrication and assembly build plans
  • Responsible for final bill of material reconciliation and documentation of the completed product
  • Management of all estimating, scheduling, earned value management and resource planning of production engineers and capability shared resource teams for completion of part specifications, tool orders, fabrication and assembly work instructions and model-based instructions as applicable defining standard work for production technicians

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • 3+ years of experience in a production-related discipline such as Manufacturing, Quality, Production Engineering, Supplier Management, and/or Supplier Quality
  • 1+ years of experience providing technical leadership to cross functional engineering projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering or leadership experience in a space related field
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in engineering and/or organizational leadership/program management
