Job description
As a fabrication/test engineer at Turion, you will be integral in the development and testing of space domain technologies ranging from critical satellite components to novel thruster architectures. You will be responsible for contributing to and potentially leading fabrication and testing phases of select hardware projects, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards and performance specifications. We are looking for candidates that are confident in bridging the gap between design and validation.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand design requirements and specifications.
- Design and develop fabrication processes, tooling, and fixtures to manufacture components and assemblies.
- Implement and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
- Oversee and participate in the fabrication of prototypes and production parts.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in the fabrication process.
Testing:
- Plan and execute comprehensive testing procedures to validate product performance and functionality.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Design and build test setups, instrumentation, and data acquisition pipelines.
- Analyze test data, identify issues, and work closely with the design team to make necessary improvements.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems during testing, proposing solutions and implementing changes as needed.
Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of fabrication processes, test procedures, and results.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations to the team.
- Contribute to the creation of technical manuals and product documentation for end-users.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in fabrication and testing.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement enhancements and drive innovation.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. DEGREE REQUIREMENTS MAY BE OVERRIDDEN BY SUFFICIENT EXPERIENCE.
- Proven experience in both fabrication engineering and test engineering roles.
- Proficiency in reading GD&T based engineering drawingsΒ
- Wide understanding of manufacturing processes, especially those used in the aerospace industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Experience with testing equipment, instrumentation, and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
