What You’ll Do:
As the Director of Solutions Engineering, you will support Slingshot’s pursuit of new space-systems-related opportunities by architecting technical solutions to unmet customer needs and by developing compelling and compliant technical volume materials in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). You will support customer engagements to include providing subject matter expertise, performing hardware/software demonstrations, supporting teaming activities, providing technical writing/presentations, and developing mature technical baselines that provide discriminating solutions to our customers. You will develop clear value propositions with the team and articulate these to customers. You will lead technical proposal volumes and oral demonstrations, conduct technology trades, and build compelling visuals and demonstration materials to help win new business.
Position Responsibilities:
- Execute all position responsibilities in alignment with Slingshot’s core values, mission, and purpose
- Form trusted working relationships with customers, end users, business partners, and fellow Slingshooters
- Act as a technical lead for new business captures, lead solutioning activities, and provide subject matter expertise; help create repeatable processes
- Help shape new business opportunities and translate customer needs to enable requirement generation and interpretation thereof
- Develop responses for requests for information (RFIs), requests for quote (RFQs), white papers, presentations, and customer briefings
- Write compelling and compliant technical proposals in response to RFPs, and support cost proposal generation
- Develop high-level designs that align to customer requirements and user operations, and that leverage our internal engineering capabilities
- Articulate the technical and business value of our solutions to stakeholders
- Maintain understanding of all Slingshot products and capabilities, stay up to date on new developments and technologies
- Perform other duties as assigned (to be less than 10% of the responsibilities listed above)
Pre-Requisites
- Must have an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related technical field
- 10+ years of experience developing technical solutions for USG customers with space domain awareness (SDA) or space surveillance and tracking (SST) needs
- 5+ years of experience architecting technical solutions for USG customers with SDA or SST needs, supporting the capture lifecycle process from the discovery phase to developing a compelling technical baseline to delivering a mature technical response that receives high marks from the USG customer
- Demonstrated success writing compelling and compliant technical proposals
- Demonstrated strategic and technical leadership experience in SDA or SST
- Comfort in customer-facing situations; willingness to engage with the market
- Strong verbal communication skills, including active listening and the ability to explain complex solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong presentation skills, including the ability to generate graphics and presentations that increase the probability of winning new business
- Experience forming trusted relationships with potential new customers and helping shape new business opportunities that align with our strengths
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time within the United States to support meetings with customers and business partners
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related technical field
- Supported over $20 million in new business awards by leading technical proposal responses and supporting subsequent program execution
- Experience generating detailed and accurate pricing estimates
- Experience leading both written and oral technical responses for RFPs
- Experience evaluating the competitive landscape of potential bidders on a new business opportunity as well as formulating a well-thought strategy for beating a pool of potential competitors
- Experience with platform architectures and authority-to-operate processes
- Early-stage start-up experience

Classification: Full time Exempt (learned professional exemption)
Compensation: $180,000 - $200,000 Base + Variable
