In this role, you will:
∙Perform structural non-linear analyses (stress/ dynamics) for reentry vehicles
∙Produce and maintain models generated from both in-house and commercially available software codes, that simulate hostile encounter events, penetration mechanics, and impact physics.
∙Prepare test plans, post-test data processing and reports. You will be an important part of our product development team, where effective communication is critical.
∙Have the ability to work on a multi-disciplined team performing structural design trades, preliminary and detailed design/analysis activity and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems.
∙Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews
∙Mentor and train junior engineers and cross train other engineering fields.
∙Provide review, interpretation, flow down, and implementation of program requirements, and plan tasks and review budget and schedule to reduce cost and cycle time.
Basic Qualifications:
∙Advanced understanding of structural non-linear analysis through education or equivalent experience
∙Extensive experience with analysis methods including classical hand calculations and experience with mechanical joints
∙Proficiency in application of finite element analysis principles as well as rigid and flexible body lumped-parameters
∙Experience with NASTRAN and finite element modeling using NX, Abaqus, or equivalent
∙Experience with non-linear analyses in LS Dyna, CTH or equivalent
∙Experience leading analysis efforts in support of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design activity
∙Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance; US citizenship is required
Desired Skills:
∙ A Master's degree or PhD is strongly preferred for this position
∙ Ability to work in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment
∙Experience interfacing with stakeholders, program management and colleagues
∙ Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently
∙Experience evaluating designs using rigid body or flexible body analysis methods and tools
∙ Mechanisms, antenna, electronic component, ground support, hoisting, and test support equipment, and composite materials analysis experience
∙Demonstrated experience with NX/Nastran,
∙Experience with Abaqus, ADAMS, LS-Dyna, Matlab, Mathcad and CREO
∙Static, vibration, acoustic, modal, shock test experience of aerospace flight hardware
∙Demonstrated experience correlating models post test
∙Creativity/innovation to tackle issues related to anomalous performance of any aspect of a mechanical system
∙Demonstrated ability to teach mechanical theory to the next generation of structural engineers

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $140,400 - $269,100. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
