Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to fill a Sr. Principal Software Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU). This position can be filled at our Fairfax, VA, or Linthicum, MD offices.

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Software Engineer:

• Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant experience; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD; or 13 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• Active TS/SCI or TS with SCI eligibility, and an adjudicated polygraph.
• Experience with Agile software development using Java development in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design and software lifecycles
• Experience with version control software
• Experience implementing, testing, and supporting the software development lifecycle with thorough peer review, documentation, and configuration management, adhering to the development process.
• Experience utilizing Java, JavaScript, Maven, and Vue.js
• Experience with microservice architecture
• Willing to mentor junior engineers and demonstrate completed work to customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in STEM
• Experience with supporting operational systems
• Experience with supporting distributed systems
• Experience with working in Virtualized Environments (VMs, AWS Cloud Instances)
• Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
• Experience working with AWS Services
• Experience with Dockerization and Container Management (Dockers and Kubernetes)
• Previous exposure to working with ground systems (scheduling, tasking, antennas, working with hardware interfaces)

Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $199,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
