The Propulsion Engineering Team is currently hiring for a Sr. Principal Propulsion Engineer located in Chandler, AZ.

Position Overview

Perform analysis, design, or test of one or more moderately complex materials (including energetics), structural components, and control systems for propulsion systems. Apply engineering principles, industry standards, company standards and customer requirements to develop propulsion systems (electric, solid/liquid fuel rocket, air-breathing, thrusters) for application in launch vehicles, missile systems, and space mission systems. Coordinate strategy for developing and leveraging multi-disciplinary design, optimization, and analysis processes to support mission requirements. Define and coordinate the conduct of testing required to evaluate design work.

Essential Functions

Perform engineering duties on solid rocket motors to include design, integration, and testing

Support the SRM leads as the program enters into a series of motor tests and production

Perform complex engineering design, development, and analysis of components and propulsion systems

Coordinate with the SRM suppliers on various design iterations and improvements

Conduct trade studies and evaluate alternative designs

Coordinate and evaluate non-conformance reviews and dispositions using engineering principles

Coordinate test planning and test preparation

Qualification and/or Acceptance test support and documentation

Determine Engineering tasks required for project planning and execution

Analyze project requirements and develop detailed planning, conceptual designs, and risk analysis

Interact with Internal and External customers. Assist the customer in defining system requirements and in the generation of specifications for products or sub systems.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 4 years of experience.

Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance

Ability to travel 10%

U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Experience

Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred

Product Development

Supply chain management

Demonstrated experience with motor product development and analysis

Salary Range: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
