This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be placed within the Thermal Analysis group among peers and experts in heat transfer and flow network modeling.  Growing your engineering knowledge and system understanding as you go, you will directly contribute to the development of the most advanced liquid rocket engines in the world by using good engineering judgment and generating creative analyses. You will participate in all stages of rocket engine development from conception through detailed design and test support.

As an early career analyst, you will gain exposure to the fundamentals of liquid rocket engine operation by thermally analyzing components as varied as turbopumps, valves, combustion chambers, nozzles, heat exchangers, and more.  You will be responsible for ensuring the thermal integrity of whatever components you are tasked with and can expect to receive substantial technical mentorship to ensure your success.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Thermal design and analysis of rocket engine components at varying levels of maturity and detail
  • Anchoring thermal predictions to test data
  • Growing your knowledge and analytical expertise through consistent mentorship and peer reviews of your work
  • Documenting your work for future reference and later refinement

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline 
  • Solid understanding of heat transfer, fluid flow, and thermodynamic first principles
  • Internship, project, or research experience with direct responsibilities involving characterization of heat transfer, fluid flow, or thermodynamic processes
  • Good communication skills and proficiency with productivity tools
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or doctorate degree with thesis/dissertation topic relating to heat transfer or fluid flow
  • Experience with analysis software such as ANSYS Mechanical, Thermal Desktop, Sinda/Fluint, or GFSSP
Compensation range for on site WA applicants is
$75,510$110,748 USD

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.

Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
