Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking SDE IT Operations Manager – 11706. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel Program.
The Sentinel Software Development Environment (SDE) IT Operations Manager will serve the Sentinel program by leading the SDE IT Operations team for management of the on-premises environments enabling all program software development.
The selected candidate will ensure that the Sentinel program SDE’s are compliant to the requirements and available for software development use across all classification levels. Responsible for removing impediments and ensuring synchronization across teams as the program matures so that the SDE can adapt and meet program forecast needs. Works with peers in the Digital Ecosystem and other program Segments to help develop priorities for fixes and evolution of the environment.
This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as IT Operations Management on the Sentinel program. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise 10% to 20% of the candidate's time.
IT Operations Manager Role Responsibilities:
• Overseeing the daily operations of the Sentinel Software Development Environment (SDE) and ensuring that systems and networks are online and available for program use.
• Ownership of all SDE technology service operations processes including problem, event and incident management for level 1 and level 2 support including communication both in business and technical terms aimed to the appropriate audiences.

• Establish IT operations standard methodologies, procedures, tools, and infrastructure that supports the needs of Sentinel program software development.
• Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and processes to improve SDE operations and increase efficiency and productivity.
• Assess system performance, track key operational metrics, identify and drive process improvement opportunities.
• Maintaining a strong understanding of the organization's business needs and working closely with peer leaders to ensure alignment with those needs.
• Control software licensing remediation efforts and create proactive audit cycles.
• Provide context to technical conversations that drive clear goals and prioritization. Functional Role Responsibilities:
• Responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs.
• Responsible for supporting recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
• Work with program leaders in establishing personal, program, and functional goals as well as performing performance evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates.
• Provide their team with career development recommendations, mentoring, coaching and support to ensure a high level of performance.
• Generate training plans based on the program and their subordinates' needs.
• Provide their group with regular flow down of company and organizational status and appropriately represent and be a spokesperson for the organization to their group, assigned project, and the company.
• Set and promote high standards for engineering development.
• Foster a working environment which reinforces and drives accountability to fundamental Northrop Grumman Values focused on integrity, quality, shared success, and innovation.
• Partner with engineering and program management peers to assure a balanced and efficient assignment of resources to support and achieve key mission priorities.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with 6+ years of experience; 4 years with Masters; or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
- US Citizenship and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
- Minimum 1 year of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against a schedule.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Current in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- Experience managing a diverse team of IT professionals across network, compute, storage, database, application, and cybersecurity disciplines.
- Experience with network design, virtual environments, and cyber systems design is preferred.
- Experience in technical judgment with significant impact to program success.
- Experience with large scale IT implementations.
- Background in supporting Highly Available systems (DR, clustering, etc...).
- Experience creating detailed plans of execution and schedules for complex projects.
- Experience with Windows system management tools and/or Linux system management tools, philosophies, methods.
- Fundamental knowledge of DevOps practices and processes.
- High proficiency in technical problem solving; to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring.
