Job Description Summary
The Enterprise Simulation and Studies Department (ESSD) develops high-fidelity modeling and simulation tools to perform critical analyses across a diverse set of space mission areas. We are also passionate about integrating these tools together in a distributed simulation framework to analyze the full space enterprise.

Work Model

This position requires onsite work in El Segundo, CA, with some hybrid remote flexibility.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Scope out studies and present results to customers in the U.S. Space Force and intelligence community.
  • Run mod-sim tools for analysis, writing pre/post-processing scripts and debugging code as needed.
  • Collaborate with software developers and physics subject-matter experts on new feature requests and bug fixes.
  • Potential projects include kill-chain analysis tool (KCAT) ocean tracking studies, communications architecture assessments, and rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO) studies.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements: (Member of Technical Staff)

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • BS in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
  • 2+ years of experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or Excel.
  • Experience debugging large code bases in Visual Studio or similar applications.
  • Knowledge or curiosity about any of the following areas: orbit mechanics, estimation theory, MW/MT, OPIR, ISR, multi-sensor fusion, OTHR, SIGINT, RPO, satellite communications, geolocation, directed energy.
  • Excellent communication skills, experience working independently and on teams, and confidence leading multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
  • Special Access Program (SAP) clearances.
  • Proficiency in writing modern C++ from scratch and modifying legacy C code.
  • Experience with distributed simulation frameworks, cloud computing, or high-performance computing.
  • Comfortability in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience in analysis (setting up and performing batch simulation runs, custom post processing, drawing trends and insights) for M&S in the areas of enterprise (cross-mission), multi-domain military operations, and/or resiliency.

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$71,000 - $103,400 - $108,000
