Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is looking for an Experienced Spacecraft Data Systems Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. This position will work in the Satellite Systems Division supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

We are seeking engineers that are passionate about space and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that supports the design, development, and implementation of software for existing and emerging Boeing proprietary space programs.

This position requires proven experience within the software development lifecycle, a unique background of project experience, and shown critical-thinking and solving skills to engineer new solutions and capabilities.  

The candidate will build, improve, and maintain database products and solutions that provide a data driven location for space system data composed of commands, telemetry, mnemonics, processor variables, and/or Signatures & Constraints (S&C) in support of mission software planning, development, test, integration, execution, and maintenance. 

Primary Responsibilities and Expectations:

• Coordinate with multi-functional engineers to build/modify spacecraft databases for emerging and legacy proprietary programs to develop new capabilities and perform ongoing maintenance
• Resolve technical issues at the spacecraft system and software subsystem levels
• Support key achievements by planning and implementing the development of database systems and applications
• Respond to requests from program leadership in support of internal and external customers
• Develop and sustain existing database management and viewing applications, fixing and resolving various software issues
• Perform database migration activities as required
• Evaluate operational needs and functional requirements to recommend suitable data solutions for mission success where appropriate
• Synchronize software infrastructures to standardize processes, building system scripts and containerized systems to deploy solutions efficiently
• Understand and document business logic of system codebase to support system improvements

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
• Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with Counterintelligence polygraph
• Active Security+ certification
• 2+ years of experience working with relational databases such as MySQL, Sybase, Microsoft SQL, and/or PostgreSQL.
• 3+ years of experience with Java, C++, and/or Python programming / scripting languages
• Experience using team collaboration tools including Git, JIRA, and Confluence
• Experience using technologies such as Tailwind CSS, JSP, Thymeleaf, and/or Spring Boot/Hibernate to support system functionality and/or migrations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with the end-to-end satellite development process and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience generating XML files to support deliveries and object-oriented design for software development
• 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Typical Education & Experience Level 3:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay Range Summary:

Level 3:  $112,200 - $151,800
