Sierra Space-based in Louisville, CO with operations in Madison, WI, Durham, NC, Huntsville, AL, Houston, TX, and Kennedy Space Center, FLβdesigns and manufactures the Dream Chaser spaceplane and other advanced spacecraft, commercial space destinations, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers, and international organizations. The Systems Test Engineer works under the Hardware/Software Integration (HSI) and Test team and reports to the Test, Integration, and Labs (TIL) Lead. The Systems Test Engineer is responsible for developing Dream Chaser HSI test inputs (test plans, test cases, code/scripts, and procedures), executing hardware/software integration tests, and producing test output products (test logs, test analyses, test results). Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Review and analyze design descriptions, ICDs, and requirements in coordination with development teams
- Develop detailed test plans, procedures, reports and conduct peer reviews
- Execute risk reduction tests and verification tests
- Troubleshoot anomalies, conduct root cause analysis, and write/close Software Change Requests and hardware Non-Conformances
- Assist with Assembly, Integration, and Test troubleshooting and test execution
- Hold coordination meetings with Responsible HW Engineers
- Coordinate and contribute to cross-disciplinary teams (Systems Engineering, Avionics Hardware Engineering, Quality Assurance) to support program success
- Ensure that standards and processes are met and that all test artifacts adhere to Sierra Space standards
Must-haves:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience
- Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams
Preferred:
- Exposure to SW tools and languages such as C++, Python, Bash, MATLAB
- Exposure to embedded software test development and execution
- Test data analysis and root-cause analysis experience
- Excellent communications skills
- Experience with Linux/Unix command line interfaces
- Experience analyzing bus data and network communication protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, RS422, RS485, Ethernet
- Knowledge of development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral
- Experience working with lab tools such as power supplies and oscilloscopes
- Lab and or hardware test experience, preference for space vehicles including verification and validation
- Space vehicle subsystem test experience in Guidance Navigation and Control (SIGI & LIDAR engineering/operational experience or Relative GPS and Proximity Operations experience)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required Learn more about the background check process for Security Clearances
Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:
- Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps
- Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity
- Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)
- Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials
- Rarely exposed to loud noises

Estimated Starting Salary Range:Β
$91,154.71 - $136,732.06Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
