Our team supports all lines of business at Lockheed Martin which means you could be completing design verification for the next mission to Mars or the next generation of GPS satellites that protect and defend our nation.
You will support the Central mechanical design verification team by performing drawing and model verification/checking. In this roll you will focus on the review and approval of standard library part models with additional review of drawing packages as needed. Final products will support product schedule requirements and customer needs. You will ensure that design releases are accurate, error-free, affordable, and producible engineering drawings/models including the advancement of DSR 4-6 models. You will work in a collaborative environment to help deliver the next generation of mechanical products supporting LM Space.

Planning and Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and plan mechanical systems, instruments, controls, robots, engines, and machines. Utilize your expertise to translate concepts into detailed designs.
Development: Take the lead in developing prototypes and models, employing state-of-the-art software and tools to refine and enhance designs. Ensure that products meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
Testing and Validation: Perform rigorous testing and validation of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and machines. Identify and address design flaws and optimize performance.
Problem-Solving: Tackle complex engineering challenges by applying your knowledge and creativity to find innovative solutions. Adapt to changing project requirements and offer expert insights to troubleshoot issues.
Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and user manuals, to facilitate effective communication and knowledge sharing within the team.
Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technicians to ensure a seamless integration of mechanical systems into larger projects.
Project Management: Manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Effectively communicate progress to stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials, and analysis
• Mechanical design and/or manufacturing experience that included the use and interpretation of engineering design drawings
• Experienced with engineering CAD tools (Creo, AutoCAD, etc.) and model based product definition
• Proficiency with ASME Y14.5M Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Desired Skills:
• Familiarity with Data Set Standards ( ASME Y14.41 Digital Product Definition Data Practices) and the associated Data Set Ratings (DSR) with proficiency in DSR4 and DSR6 requirements
• Manufacturing, assembly, and design experience
• Working knowledge of industry standards and federal requirements applicable to mechanical and structural systems
• Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
• Familiarity with Industry Standard specifications (NAS, MIL, MS, etc.)
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM) experience
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and customers simultaneously.
• Active Secret security clearance
