DIRECTOR OF PEOPLE & CULTURE

Based out of Rocket Lab's Auckland NZ office, the Director of People & Culture will serve as the New Zealand P&C department architect and be responsible and accountable for executing the company’s human resources efforts.  The chosen candidate will create, influence, and guide the strategic vision that will enable the organization to create Rocket Lab’s culture and brand as employer of choice, recruit extraordinary talent to keep up with the high growth, provide strong compensation and benefits leadership, and support a performance-based culture through strategic initiatives, performance management, and learning and development programs.  With over 1,600+ employees globally, this growing business is looking for a dynamic leader to drive change. 

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO: 

  • Lead and guide the efforts of the HR team while supporting a customer-centric approach to internal stakeholders.  
  • Foster a climate of strong accountability, responsibility, partnership, ownership, and results orientation. 
  • Develop, improve and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's objectives and goals. 
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance on all aspects of HR, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, employee relations, and compliance. 
  • Provide ongoing assessment of organizational effectiveness and create strategies for alignment of resources and workforce planning.  
  • Foster a positive and inclusive company culture. 
  • Lead and mentor a team of HR professionals, promoting their professional development and growth. 
  • Guide best practices in the use of HR systems, policies, procedures, and compliance and streamlines processes for operational excellence.  

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources management or similar 
  • 10+ years of professional Human Resources Experience 
  • 8+ years of leadership experience  
  • Experience in high growth environments, Organizational Development, and Employee Engagement 
  • Experience in broad fields of human resources including organization design, restructuring and change management, talent acquisition, employee engagement and relations, talent and organization development, performance management, compensation and benefits. 

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: 

  • Master’s degree in business administration, human resources management or related area 
  • Human resources certification or professional human resources affiliations 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior line executives and clients to successfully develop and implement plans, programs, and policies.  
  • Ability to balance between strategic thinking and tactical implementation. 
  • Excellent facilitator who is experienced in resolving conflicts. 
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing HR strategies that align with organizational goals. 
  • Extensive knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations. 
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization. 
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and influence decision-making processes. 
  • Experience in manufacturing, government contracting, or start-up environments 
  • Experience using Greenhouse and Workday
