Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for either a Microelectronics Layout Engineer/ Principal Microelectronics Layout Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Manhattan Beach, CA.

The selected candidate will support the research and development of advanced microelectronics products for the Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center. Candidate will be primarily responsible for lithography mask layout using computer aided design. Other duties include assisting in designing and developing circuits used in a variety of semiconductor devices and utilizing a variety of advanced integration schemes. Finally, the candidate should be comfortable with computer programming and automation.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.  Candidate should be proactive in learning and problem solving as part of a team, collaborating closely with product engineers, process engineers, RF circuit designers, and test engineers.

This requisition may be filled at the Engineer T02 level or the Principal Engineer T03 level based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Basic Qualifications for the Engineer T02 Level: Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM from an accredited institution

  • Basic Qualifications for the Principal Engineer T03 Level: Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM from an accredited institution and 3 years of engineering experience; OR PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with semiconductor fabrication processes, preferably III-V semiconductors

  • Familiarity with electrical circuit design and circuit schematics

  • Experience with CAD for photolithography, preferably Cadence Virtuoso

  • Experience with CAD validation software for Design Rule Check and Layout vs Schematic

  • Experience with computer programming, preferably for Cadence SKILL

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Salary Range: $85,000.00 - $127,400.00Salary Range 2: $104,600.00 - $157,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
