The Space Systems Engineering and Integration Organization in SSSD has an opening for a Staff Space Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

The Space Vehicle Environments Thread Lead is responsible for the development and maturation of Unit and Element Environmental Specification and the Unit and Element Test Tailoring Report. This person will be the lead point-of-contact for a set of requirements to ensure that Space Vehicle implementation meets customer intent.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
-Lead the development of space vehicle environmental requirements across several program documents and develop expertise and maintain historical knowledge for each requirement and owns all of the development aspects related to their requirements or capabilities across the system engineering “V” from requirements definition to sell off.
-Support horizontal integration of the system design across the architecture and their involvement across program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) extends to lower-level requirement allocation, design, verification, and validation activities (i.e., segment, element, subsystem, unit, etc.) to vertically integrate and ensure system-level thread requirements are met.
-Develop or provide input to SE products that interact with the Elements including requirement development, requirement allocation descriptions, verification plans, and verification evidence.


Basic Qualifications

-Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 14+ years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12+ years of engineering experience OR PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9+ years of engineering experience

-Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, an active Dept. of Defense Secret level clearance with a background investigation date within 10 years
-Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance

-Demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering and deployments
-Strong People and Technical Leadership Skills

-Excellent communication skills (upward and downward)
 
Preferred Qualifications

-Experienced and/or degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
-Experienced with Thread engineering and Space Vehicle engineering and interface requirements definition
-Active TS/SCI clearance
-End-to-end Systems Engineering experience

-Flexible Schedules:  For example, the ability to work a 9/80 work schedule, which allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off of work.

Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
